Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in a therapy session?
Therapy begins with the first session as an information gathering session. We will get to know one another and discuss relevant issues that are impacting your life. If you are a parent coming in with your child as the client, the first session will be with you alone without your child. If your child is older child (12+) they may have their own intake session so I can gather information from their perspective. Once this has occurred, regular therapy sessions will take place, where we focus on the goals that you have decided you would like to reach. I work collaboratively with each client and feel it is important to work at each person’s preferred speed and enter into sensitive areas only when clients feel they are ready.
How long does therapy last?
This is a tough question to answer. All people and families are unique, so it is difficult to say how long therapy will last. It is really dependent upon what you want to work on, what you want to get out of therapy, and how deep you wish to go. All of these preferences factor into the length of treatment. Some clients are able to reach their goals in 6-8 sessions, and some prefer to delve deeply and spend more time exploring their inner worlds. This is a personal choice that you can discuss with your therapist, and together you may decide on the best length of treatment for you and your family.
What is the cost of therapy?
Most sessions last from 45-50 minutes and the rate is $150 per session. If you wish to have a longer session, the rate would be prorated based upon this rate. If a longer session is your preference, please mention this beforehand, so the appropriate time will be held. If you need to have contact in-between sessions that lasts longer than 15 minutes, a pro-rated fee based upon my hourly fee of $150 will be charged. For payments, I accept credit cards, HSA’s, and FSA’s. Fees will be charged electronically through the electronic health record system, immediately after session is held.
Do you take insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance at this time, but I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your PPO insurance for possible reimbursement for using an Out of Network Provider. I recommend contacting your insurance company before our first session to obtain accurate information regarding reimbursement rates. You will be charged the full rate for therapy sessions at the time of service, then I will send you a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Do you offer a Sliding Scale?
Yes, I have a limited number of time slots reserved for sliding scale appointments based upon income. If you are unable to afford the regular rate, please reach out to discuss the possibility of a lower fee.
GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
